Clarkson College recognizes the importance of your wellbeing and how vital wellness is to a happy and healthy life. The institution recognizes eight dimensions of wellness: occupational, emotional, spiritual, environmental, financial, physical, social and intellectual. To help community members achieve this balance, the Wellness department offers a calendar listing of events and programming each month for students and employees to participate in so you may meet your personal wellness needs.
Understanding the Dimensions of Wellness
The College recognizes eight dimensions of wellness: occupational, emotional, spiritual, environmental, financial, physical, social and intellectual. Each dimension is interrelated to the others and is equally important in the pursuit of optimum health. Each person may reach an optimal level of wellness by understanding how to maintain and optimize each wellness dimension.
- Emotional wellness: Coping effectively with life and creating satisfying relationships
- Environmental wellness: Good health through pleasant environments that support well-being
- Financial wellness: Satisfaction with current and future financial situations
- Intellectual wellness: Identifying ways to expand knowledge, abilities and skills
- Occupational wellness: Personal satisfaction and enrichment from one’s work
- Physical wellness: Recognizing the need for physical activity, proper nutrition and sleep
- Social wellness: Developing a sense of connection, community, belonging and a support system
- Spiritual wellness: Expanding our sense of purpose and meaning in life
